According to her, it is not yet known how long exactly the man will be held in the deportation center in the city of Gulkevichi.

“Andrey called and said that there are two guys from the Kherson region there: one for a year and a half, the other for 2.5 years. It is still a complete unknown when he will finally be fired. I finally gave him his untidy things, clothes, and I am going to go to him soon,” said the political prisoner’s wife.

Ukrainian citizens have been held in deportation centers in southern Russia for months and years awaiting deportation to their homeland. As the media reported, after serving their sentences, the Ukrainians actually remain under arrest due to the ban on leaving the deportation center, and their detention periods are extended each time. According to human rights activists, this practice is a gross violation of human rights.

Euromaidan activist Andrey Kolomiets is a resident of the Kyiv region and has never lived in Crimea. In 2014, he met his future wife Galina online and went to her in the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (RF). On May 15, 2015, Russian police officers detained the Ukrainian in her home.

He was subjected to brutal torture in order to obtain a confession. As a result of the torture, Kolomiets incriminated himself. After that, he was transported to Crimea and accused of attacking the Berkut officers. According to Kolomiets' defense, the prosecution's only evidence was two black-and-white photographs with a handful of ashes from the allegedly burnt uniform of the security forces.

On June 10, 2016, Mikhail Belousov, “judge of the Kyiv District Court” of Simferopol, sentenced the Ukrainian to 10 years of imprisonment in a strict regime penal colony. He was accused of attempted murder of two former employees of the Berkut unit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine during the events on the Maidan in Kyiv under several articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation: Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation – murder of two or more persons (unfinished), Article 228 – possession of narcotics, Article 30 – attempted crime.

The Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine denied Andriy Kolomiyets' participation in the attacks on the Berkut.

The Crimean human rights group stated that the case was completely fabricated and politically motivated.
