Donald Trump signed high-profile executive orders on the first day of his presidency

Donald Trump, returning to the presidency, on his first day issued several high-profile decrees, which have already caused a wide response in the world. Among them are the withdrawal of the United States from the World Health Organization (WHO), a pardon for the participants of the storming of the Capitol in 2021 and major changes in immigration policy. This is written by IZ with reference to the Associated Press.

Pardon of participants in the storming of the Capitol

One of Trump's most controversial decisions was the pardon of about 1,500 people who were convicted or accused of participating in the storming of the Capitol on January 6, 2021. It was the day when hundreds of Trump supporters broke through the police cordon to the US Capitol building. This attack was an attempt to disrupt the confirmation of the results of the presidential election, which Joe Biden won.

Trump, who had previously repeatedly promised to support his supporters, implemented his statements by signing a pardon decree. The move caused a mixed reaction: Trump supporters consider it an act of justice, while critics emphasize the threat of undermining the rule of law.

US leaves WHO for the second time

Another important decision was the re-exit of the United States from the World Health Organization (WHO). Trump’s order begins a formal withdrawal process, citing the need to “review the role of the United States in international organizations.” Earlier, during his first presidency, Trump had already announced his withdrawal from the WHO, accusing the organization of an unsatisfactory response to the COVID-19 pandemic. This decision was reversed by the Biden administration, but now Trump has returned to his position.

The decision could have serious consequences for the global health system, given the significant financial support that the United States provided to the WHO.

Suspension of foreign aid and review of programs

One of the most practical solutions was to suspend US foreign aid for 90 days. All aid programs must undergo a thorough review to ensure they are in line with the new administration's policies. This approach, Trump said, would help streamline spending and free up resources to support domestic initiatives.

The decision has raised concerns among international partners, many of whom depend on US aid, particularly in the areas of humanitarian assistance, health care, and education.

Changes in immigration policy

Trump also canceled several immigration orders signed by Joe Biden. In particular, he returned to the policy of prioritizing the deportation of all illegal immigrants, regardless of the degree of threat they pose. Previously, the Biden administration focused only on deporting individuals who have committed serious crimes or pose a threat to national security.

In addition, the president declared a state of emergency on the border with Mexico, which involves the mobilization of the military. He stated that the United States must protect its borders, and a tough immigration policy is key to ensuring national security.

Withdrawal from the Paris Climate Agreement

Among other decrees is the US's second withdrawal from the Paris Climate Agreement. This decision puts the US in the ranks of countries that are not participating in the global fight against climate change, such as Iran, Libya and Yemen. According to Trump, the agreement is “unfair to the United States” and harms the American economy. Instead, his administration plans to develop its own environmental strategy.

Trump and TikTok: 75 days to find American investors

The president also signed an order postponing the ban on TikTok for 75 days. This decision is related to the search for American investors who could take control of the application's activities in the United States. Trump previously stated that he considers Chinese social networks a threat to national security.
