January 25 marks the Memorial Day of Saint Gregory the Theologian, one of the most prominent Fathers of the Church, theologian and defender of Orthodoxy, writes IZ. Gregory was born around 330 in Cappadocia (the territory of modern Turkey). He was Archbishop of Constantinople and left behind a legacy of over 240 epistles, about 500 verses and 45 poems, which became key in the formation of Christian theology.
In the church calendar, this day is associated with prayers and remembrances of Gregory the Theologian. Believers visit churches to honor the memory of the saint and ask for blessings.
