The Cabinet of Ministers has restored the powers of the State Special Communications Service to monitor the cryptographic and technical protection of information resources, as well as the cyber protection of critical information infrastructure facilities.

“The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has adopted a resolution restoring the powers of the State Special Communications Service Administration to implement measures of state supervision (control) in the field of cyber protection, as well as cryptographic and technical protection of information of government agencies and critical information infrastructure (CII) facilities,” the press service of the State Special Communications Service said in a statement.

The relevant powers were suspended at the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation.

According to the State Cyber Defense Center of the agency, the number of cyber incidents in the energy sector and the security and defense sector has more than doubled.

And the decision taken will allow for a much faster response to threats arising from the intensification of cyber attacks by the aggressor.

It is noted that the implementation of new powers will help strengthen the country's defense capability, protect personal data, data on critical infrastructure facilities and military resources, and reduce the risk of information leakage that can be used by an aggressor for high-precision strikes or other destructive actions.
