Volodymyr Zelensky held a meeting on the development of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and military aviation was also discussed.
According to the head of state, Ukraine is expecting French fighters. Zelensky also noted the transition of the Armed Forces to F-16.
“… This is a success of our Armed Forces of Ukraine, one of the fastest transitions to a new type of aircraft among all countries. We also expect French fighters in our skies, which, under the control of Ukrainian pilots, will certainly strengthen our defense,” Zelensky noted.
The President emphasized that it is necessary to accelerate the modernization of the Ukrainian military aviation system.
“These are new personnel approaches, organizational changes and significant attention of the command staff to pilots, engineers and all our people who invest their knowledge and energy in the development of the Air Force. In particular, Lilia Averianova, mother of Hero of Ukraine Major Andriy Pilshchikov (Dzhus), took part in the conversation at the meeting,” the head of state added.

Zelensky said that he instructed the Minister of Defense to implement some organizational changes. “We discussed the prospects for cooperation with partners, we are working on personnel issues to strengthen the command staff of the Air Force and the leadership of the Ministry of Defense,” the head of state noted.
