On March 3, there were certain prohibitions and folk signs. It was forbidden to quarrel, swear or curse, as it was believed that this could bring misfortune to the house. It was also forbidden to borrow or lend money after sunset, so as not to lose wealth. It was believed that on this day you should not go to the forest, as wild animals begin to wake up after winter and can pose a danger.
Our ancestors carefully followed natural signs. If crows were digging in the snow, it foreshadowed clear and warm weather. The melting of snow near the trees indicated a long spring, and the return of starlings promised a bountiful harvest in the summer. Girls had their own ritual: they left silver or an egg in the water overnight, and in the morning they washed themselves with this water to preserve their youth and beauty.
