The Russians buried the place of Sudzha in the Kursk region, – ISW

The Russian troops buried Sudzha in the Kursk region and fought against the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the border villages of the Sumy region. Apparently the Russian army will try to create a buffer zone between the Russian-Ukrainian cordon.

RBC-Ukraine informs about this in a message to the Institute of Foreign War (ISW).

The geolocation footage published on 12 February indicates that the Russian army recently captured Sudzha and reached the village of Zaoleshenske in the deserted area (on the evening approach from Sudzhi). The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine informed that the Ukrainian military had begun to withdraw from Sudzhi.

Russian military bloggers attribute the burial of Sudzhi to the 11th Airborne Brigade, 22nd Motorized Rifle Regiment (72nd Motorized Rifle Division of the 44th Army Corps Leningrad Military District) and the 2nd Special Forces Brigade (Head Directorate of Military Intelligence of the General Staff of the Russian Federation). According to bloggers, the Russian army is carrying out “cleansing operations” in populated areas.

The geolocation footage published on 11 March demonstrates that the Russian army recently entered the village of Basivka (on the way to Sudzhi through the international cordon near the Sumy region).

Russian bloggers confirm that Russian troops have reached out in the area of Sverdlikovo (on the evening approach from Sudzhi), on entry from Kozachoya Lokna (on the evening from Sudzhi), at the border Zaoleshenki, between the daytime Goncharivka (on the way from Sudzhi), on the way from Kurylivka, on the daytime from Gujevo (on the daytime way from Sudzhi), and also on the daytime way view of Zhuravki (on entry from Sudzhi near the Sumy region) and entry from Oleksandria (today from Sudzhi in the Sumy region).

Russian military bloggers confirmed that fighting is taking place near Zaoleshenka, Goncharivka and Gujevo, as well as along the border of the international border in the Sumy region near Zhuravka, Novenkiy and Basivka (all on entry from Sudzhi). One of the Russian bloggers called for the creation of a buffer zone – most likely, in the Sumy region – after the Russian military forces control the ZSU from the Kursk region.

Russian bloggers said on February 12 that the Ukrainian Defense Forces carried out attacks from HIMARS rocket systems on the Russian military near the Kursk region. ISW stated that they cannot verify this information.

Putin's visit to the Kursk region

ISW also guessed that on March 12, Russian dictator Volodymyr Putin had withdrawn from the Russian military command post near the Kursk region and heard the testimony of the chief of the Russian General Staff, Valery Gerasimov. This became the first thing after the Ukrainian part of the Kursk region was taken under control in September 2024.

Towards the end of the day, Putin learned that the Russian military had not yet completely withdrawn Ukrainian forces from the Kursk region, and declared that they were guilty of wanting to invade the entire Kursk region “at short notice.”

“This visit demonstrates that Putin’s boss is victorious about Russia’s burying of Sudzhi to demonstrate the military success and the strength of the proposals of Ukraine and the United States about the imminent outbreak of fire,” one says.

The ISW showed respect for a significant factor – at the hour of his visit to the headquarters, Putin wore a military uniform, at the time of his visits to the front at the beginning of 2023, wearing a suit. According to analysts, the President of the Russian Federation, apparently, is trying to position himself as a central military leader and include himself in the number of Russian military-political leaders who have been recognized recently penetration of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation near the Kursk region.

“Putin is also apparently trying to portray himself as a strong and effective military leader in the front line of the US and Russian delegations. Vitkoff 13 February, during which time, the American-Ukrainian position on the immediate outbreak of fire will undoubtedly be discussed,” says the ISW spokesperson.

ZSU operation in the Kursk region

At the beginning of sickle 2024, the forces of Ukraine crossed the sovereign cordon near the Sumy region and began to take control of settlements in the border Kursk region.

The purpose of the operation was to weaken the combat capabilities of the Russian army and increase the strength of the enemy until the redirection of resources to protect the powerful territories from sub-divisions, which carried out offensive operations in the Donetsk region and in the border area Sumy and Kharkiv regions.

Over the remaining 7 months, Russians gradually squeezed Ukrainian forces out of populated areas. With the beginning of the birch season, military operations in the region have become very busy. The General Staff of the ZSU stated that Russians are constantly infiltrating the Kursk region.

According to the words of the head commander of the ZSU Oleksandr Sirsky, the aggressor is trying to push the Ukrainian military out of the Kursk region and transfer the fighting to the territory of the Sumy and Kharkiv regions. In this case, the Russians are aware of serious losses in their fears.

Some analysts pointed out that the likely reason for the success of the Russian army is the Donald Trump administration’s suppression of the exchange of intelligence data with Ukraine, which did not allow the ZSU to effectively carry out strikes from jet fighters. HIMARS systems.

On January 11, American and Ukrainian officials confirmed that the United States had resumed intelligence exchange with Ukraine.
