Ukraine has received the third tranche of macro-financial assistance from the European Union in the amount of 1 billion euros, financed by frozen Russian assets. This is reported by IZ with reference to the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine. These funds were received within the framework of the G7 Extraordinary Revenue Acceleration for Ukraine (ERA) initiative, which provides for the provision of 50 billion US dollars to Ukraine, of which the EU contribution is 18.1 billion euros.
In total, within the framework of the ERA initiative, the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine has already attracted 5 billion euros from the EU. It is expected that Ukraine will receive the remaining funds in installments by the end of 2025. In 2025, the EU allocated 8.5 billion euros to the State Budget of Ukraine, which is the largest contribution among all donors. The funds were received within the framework of the ERA mechanism and the Ukraine Facility financial instrument.
Minister of Finance of Ukraine Serhiy Marchenko expressed gratitude to European partners for their consistent and predictable support, which contributes to Ukraine's financial stability. He noted that the attracted funding is directed to priority areas of the country's budget.
The European Union remains the largest provider of direct budget assistance to Ukraine since February 2022, providing a total of €50.5 billion for priority state budget expenditures.
In the context of the European Union's consistent support for Ukraine, it is also worth mentioning the recent statement by the European Commission on the future status of Ukrainians, which we wrote about earlier.
