The SBU reported the detention of a repeat offender who, according to the intelligence service, was spying in Ukrainian air defense and was preparing for “evacuation” to Lugansk.

It is noted that, on the instructions of the Russian special service, this defendant tried to identify the bases of Ukrainian air defense systems. The attacker also monitored the results of the aggressor's missile strikes on military targets located in the city

It was established that, following his “guidance,” the invaders fired at one of the objects of the regional center during an air attack by the Russian Federation on December 29, 2023.

For carrying out reconnaissance and subversive activities against Ukraine, the defendant received money from the invaders on a bank card.< /p>

If all assigned tasks were successfully completed, the FSB promised its informant to “evacuate” him to the temporarily occupied part of the territory of the Lugansk region.

However, SBU officers prevented the attacker from escaping justice and detained him in his own home.

According to the investigation, a native of the Lugansk region was detained, who already had a criminal record for participation in illegal armed groups of the so-called “LPR.”

Even before the start of the full-scale Russian invasion, he settled in the Dnieper, and in August 2023 he began collaborating with the FSB.

He maintained remote communication with the Russian intelligence service because of his “messenger.” He turned out to be a militant of the occupation groups of the aggressor country, who is located in a temporarily occupied part of the territory in eastern Ukraine.

To obtain intelligence data, the person involved walked around the area and secretly photographed and videotaped important objects using his own phone camera.< /p >

During a search in the detainee’s premises, a smartphone and a bank card were found, which he used in criminal activities.

Based on the collected evidence, Security Service investigators informed him of suspicion under Part 7 of Art. 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (collaboration activities). The defendant is currently in custody. He faces 15 years in prison.

Recall that earlier in Kharkov, an 18-year-old hacker was detained for correcting the shelling of invaders in the city and preparing cyber attacks. The investigation established that, at the direction of the defendant, the occupiers carried out two missile attacks on the civilian infrastructure of the regional center. The local hospital was among the damaged facilities. The defendant is currently in custody. He faces up to 12 years in prison.
