Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland presented for consideration parliament, the country's federal budget for 2024, which contains an article on assistance to Ukraine.

As CP24 writes, Canada intends to achieve a target of 1.76% of GDP allocated to defense by 2030 (according to NATO recommendations , this figure should reach 2% of GDP – ed.) To achieve this, over the next 5 years the armed forces will receive funding in the amount of $8.1 billion, and by 2044 the total investment in defense capabilities will reach 73 billion.

The budget provides that Ukraine will receive $1.6 billion over a five-year period. This money will be used to provide lethal and non-lethal weapons, Canada will spend another 350 million to overcome global humanitarian crises.
