Vinnytsia investigative police reported suspicion of two organizers and five members of a criminal organization who produced counterfeit documents and sold them on the territory of five regions of Ukraine.

As reported by the National Police, the criminal organization was formed and headed in the summer of 2023 by two residents of the Odessa region.

Members of the organization produced more than 3.8 thousand false documents, issued by departments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Among the counterfeits that could be purchased from dealers are driver's licenses and vehicle registration certificates, permanent residence permits, certificates of completion of a driving school, a passport of a citizen of Ukraine.

The dealers operated on territories of five regions:Vinnitsa, Odessa, Lviv, Donetsk and Kharkov, and ready-made orders were sent by mail.

To “promote the business,” the attackers even created a website with a link to the Telegram messenger, through which they accepted the order.

During the detention of members of the group, law enforcement officers simultaneously carried out 35 authorized searchesin five regions of Ukraine. During the events, a large number of already produced documents and blanks for future orders, seals with signs of counterfeiting from public and private institutions, including one of the service centers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, almost 90,000 US dollars and equipment used to produce counterfeits were seized.

The businessmen earned almost 6.5 million hryvnia from producing false documents

During the investigation, they proved that the suspects’ income amounted to almost 6.5 million hryvnia. Members of the group legalized them, including because of cryptogamists.

The pre-trial investigation continues. The suspects face up to twelve years in prison with confiscation of property.
