This group of people is also suspected of preparing coordinates for missile attacks on the Defense Forces' bases.
The Security Service of Ukraine reported the detention of a group of people on suspicion of correcting a double Iskander strike on a high-rise building in Pokrovsk, Donetsk region in August 2023.
It is noted that counterintelligence of the Security Service neutralized an agent group of military intelligence of the Russian Federation in the Donetsk region. As a result of the special operation, six Russian agents were simultaneously detained, who were at different addresses and were correcting the shelling of the region.
On their guidance, on August 7, 2023, the invaders launched a double strike with Iskander missiles on the city of Pokrovsk. Then, during the first attack, the Russians hit an apartment building. When police and rescuers arrived at the scene, the Russians struck again.
As a result of enemy “arrivals,” there were numerous casualties and injuries among the civilian population.
In addition, this intelligence group prepared coordinates for missile attacks on the bases of the Defense Forces in the Avdiivka direction. To do this, the defendants alone walked around the area where they tried to covertly record the defense positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The attackers acted separately from each other, but “locked in” to a common curator for military intelligence of the Russian Federation. His identity has already been established by the Security Service. It was he who created and remotely supervised the intelligence group, which included six residents of the Pokrovsky district.
To find them and recruit them, the Russian intelligence officer used pro-Kremlin Telegram channels, where they left anti-Ukrainian comments.
< During searches at the locations of these individuals, mobile phones were found, which they used in reconnaissance and subversive activities in favor of the aggressor.
Security Service investigators informed all detainees of suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (state treason committed under martial law).
They are in custody.
In addition, the issue of additional qualification of the criminal actions of the defendants under Art. 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of the laws and customs of war).
The defendants face life imprisonment.
