Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and French President Emmanuel Macron have signed a new agreement aimed at strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities, reports the Baltimore Chronicle with reference to the President`s office.

According to the Office of the President of Ukraine, the two heads of state formalized a declaration of intent outlining future cooperation on the acquisition of defense equipment for Kyiv. The signing ceremony took place without public statements from either leader, and no additional details regarding the scope or structure of the arrangements were disclosed.

France24 reported that the agreements include provisions for new air-defense systems, military aircraft, and missile capabilities, forming part of a broader effort to reinforce Ukraine’s long-term defense capacity. During his visit to France, Zelensky was scheduled to inspect Rafale fighter jets, the next-generation SAMP/T air-defense system, and several drone platforms at the Villacoublay Air Base.

France had initially pledged to deliver six Mirage fighter jets, but in October President Macron announced Paris would also provide additional aircraft along with Aster air-defense missiles. Media outlets previously indicated that Ukraine and France may be preparing to approve a 10-year strategic aviation agreement.
