Sandra L. Kurtinitis will step down as president of the Community College of Baltimore County on July 31, 2027, ending more than two decades at the helm of one of Maryland’s largest higher education institutions. The announcement marks a major transition for CCBC, which serves more than 50,000 students each year and has expanded significantly under her leadership, as noted by Baltimore Chronicle.

Sandra L. Kurtinitis announces retirement plans

Dr. Kurtinitis, 83, informed the college community that she will leave the presidency in 2027. Following her departure, she plans to take a one-year sabbatical before officially retiring on July 31, 2028.

In a statement, she described leading CCBC as “the honor of a lifetime” and pledged to remain fully committed during the transition period.
