The production of a budget analogue of the Iranian kamikaze drone “Shahed” has begun on the territory of the Russian Federation. The Russian version of this UAV will be called “Hawk.”
As NBN reports with reference to a message from the ISW (Institute for the Study of War), the flight range of the Russian analogue of the Shahed UAV called the Hawk will reach 350 kilometers, and its warhead will be 800 kilogram.
In its report, the Institute for the Study of War writes that the Stratim design bureau, which will produce the Yastreb UAV, notes that Russian troops will use these “birds” as bait in order to distract Ukrainian air defense systems. In other words, Russian troops will use the same tactics that were previously used during a series of attacks on Ukrainian territory.
Flight testing of a prototype Iranian UAV is currently ongoing. It is expected that in the first half of this year it is planned to begin flight tests of the finished, modified product.
Recall that we previously wrote that Shoigu inspected the production of missiles ordered by the Kremlin.
