About the fact that now 1 kilogram of potatoes goes to retail chains at a wholesale selling price of 16-22 hryvnia, and this is 11 percent less if we compare with the beginning of the third month of winter, but in ;2.9 times higher than the same period in 2023, and also how this affected the price tags in supermarkets, writes NBN, citing data from the Ministry of Finance portal.
Average prices for potatoes, just in the past month, have grown from 24.17 hryvnia/kilogram to 25.97 hryvnia/kilogram, while the minimum cost of the root crop in Auchan is 21 ,8 hryvnia/kilogram.
The pink variety of potatoes, on the contrary, has risen in price from 29.12 hryvnia/kilogram to 31.04 hryvnia/kilogram, and the cheapest type of this vegetable can be purchased in ;”Metro” for 29.02 hryvnia/kilogram.
However, potatoes will soon fall in price significantly more farmers who had previously refrained from selling their products hoped to earn more from them later, but the vegetable began to actively deteriorate in the storage facilities, so there is no longer any point in holding back shipments.
