The American edition of The Wall Street Journal stated that the decision of the head of Ukraine to fire Zaluzhny was the most significant change in the leadership of the state during the entire period of the full-scale war. Such a step will increase the president’s responsibility for any failure on the battlefield, NBN reports.

Journalists note that replacing the “iron general” with Syrsky, who is considered closer to the head of state, will tie the guarantor more closely with decisions on front.

The article says that while the Ukrainian leader tried to maintain optimism, the former commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine painted a darker picture of the country’s prospects in the realities of the war with the Russian Federation.

The media paid attention to the fact that Zelensky justified the replacement of the military leadership with a number of problems, in particular the lack of Western assistance and human resources, which the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine does not solve.

In addition, the president probably felt threatened due to the popularity of the military leader among the defenders and civilians. At the same time, Zaluzhny never expressed political ambitions.

The publication also quotes Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers who were disappointed with Zelensky’s decision, noting that replacing the commander-in-chief will not change the situation for them at the front.

Previously A source in the Ministry of Defense outlined the real reasons for Zaluzhny’s dismissal from the post of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
