The press service of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Moscow Military District stated that desertion is flourishing in the units of the Southern Military District of the “second army of the world.” In total, as of the end of April, more than 18,000 soldiers in the armed formations of the Southern Military District voluntarily left their military unit or place of service.
Budanov was clarified that the lion's share of deserters in the Southern Military District falls on the 8th Combined Arms Army of the State Armed Forces -terrorist – about 12,000 fugitives, NBN reports.
The command of the Russian Armed Forces constantly uses this army in battles in the Eastern direction. Approximately 10,000 of them joined the ranks of the Russian invaders through mobilization, 2,000 deserters are contract soldiers.
The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine clarified that in the 58th Combined Arms Army, which is also part of the Southern Military District, the desertion rate is is about 2,500 fighters.
Earlier, British intelligence commented on desertion in the “second army of the world.” The department's report says that in the ranks of the Russian occupation forces, unauthorized leaving of duty has reached a record level.
