As reported by NBN with reference to Reuters material, in accordance with the statement of US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, Washington is in no way involved in the elimination of the above-mentioned leader of Islamist extremists.
According to Blinken, the US not only did not directly participate in the murder of Haniyeh, but did not even know about the preparation of this special operation.
The US Secretary of State emphasized that he has learned from the experience of many previous years in politics never to speculate about the influence of any event “otherwise,” in particular, whether Haniyeh's death could trigger a war between Israel and Hamas/Iran.
Blinken summarized:
It is vitally important, I hope [to succeed], to direct the situation in the right direction for a more sustainable peace and more sustainable security, so as not to lose focus [on a stable situation in the Middle East].
Earlier, we wrote that the United States intends to defend Israel if Iran decides to launch a vengeful attack.
