The Russian Emergencies Ministry said that, in accordance with the decision of the government commission, a federal emergency has been declared in eight districts of the Kursk region, NBN reports, citing the Kreschatic publication.
The Ministry of Digital Development, aggressor countries allowed residents of the region to use mobile communications and the Internet free of charge until the end of the state of emergency.
At the same time, the mayor of Kurchatov, where the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant is located, Igor Korpunkov, said that the situation remains tense, with fighting taking place tens of kilometers from the settlement.
Putin's official noted that he “keeps the situation under control.” The head of the city urged residents not to panic, saying that “the enemy wants to sow chaos and create an uncontrollable situation.”
It should be noted that the fighting has also already reached Sudzha, and the Russian Defense Ministry did not deny this information.
