The former head of the Foreign Ministry emphasized in an interview with Channel 24 that Ukraine does not intend to restore its nuclear potential, the NBN publication reports.
The diplomat recalled the head of state's words at the Munich Security Conference on February 19, 2022. The president said that the Budapest Memorandum states had abandoned our country: they took nuclear weapons from Kyiv, promising to guarantee Ukraine's security, but in the end it found itself on the brink of war without either.
According to the former minister, the Russians picked up on Zelensky's statement and began to say that he allegedly threatened to create a nuclear bomb. This caused concern among partners.
Kuleba noted that Ukraine's allies need to worry less about what it can do and think about protecting our country and European states from Russian aggression.
The former head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is convinced that Kyiv's renunciation of nuclear weapons was a tragic mistake, but their restoration will not help end the war, and will also create many problems.
As reported, Turkish leader Recep Erdogan told how the Trump administration can help end the Russian war against Ukraine.
