The adviser to the head of state responded to reports about a possible lowering of the conscription age in Ukraine to 18. On his page on the social network X (former Twitter), the official assured that no one is preparing for mobilization from this age, the NBN publication reports.
Earlier, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine also reported that they are not considering the possibility of lowering the draft age in Ukraine. At the same time, the department is preparing incentive contracts for citizens aged 18-25.
Note that on December 4, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that the Ukrainian leadership must make “difficult decisions” on mobilization activities. The official recalled that the Defense Forces need people to repel an attack by the Russians.
The day before, the American publication The Washington Post wrote that the White House is disappointed with Zelensky's reluctance to lower the draft age in Ukraine to 18. By the way, the president commented on the demands of his allies to lower the mobilization age back in November.
