Recently, on December 22, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico visited Russia to complain to Kremlin tyrant Vladimir Putin about Ukraine blocking the transit of Russian gas.

As reported by NBN with reference to LIGA.NET material, according to Slovak political scientist Grigory Mesezhnikov, Fico is transforming into a “second Viktor Orban” (Prime Minister of Hungary), since he not only promotes the interests of the aggressor country, but also shows “open sympathy” for the Russian Federation and Putin personally.
Based on the words of Vitaly Dyachuk, an expert analyst at the Institute for Central European Strategy and the Re:Open Ukraine initiative, Fico’s recent visit to the Russian Federation should be assessed both against the backdrop of Bratislava’s other decisions regarding Ukraine, and and from the point of view of the policies implemented by Orban.
In particular, the case concerns Slovakia's blocking of the EU's anti-Russian sanctions, excluding the Russian Federation's top brass from the blacklist, and “actual lobbying” for Europe's continued dependence on energy resources supplied by a terrorist state.
Dyachuk emphasized:
If we look at the behavior of the leaders of Hungary and Slovakia in the historical context, this is an inferiority complex of a vassal before the Russian Empire. Hence the choice of allies.
At the same time, Mesezhnikov also believes the same: Orban and Fico have been pro-Russian leaders from the very beginning, since they strive to stay in power in the European political society, then they “cling to [any] allies”, and we are not talking so much about intentions to save on the transportation of “blue fuel” to Slovakia, since there is a replacement for the Russian resource, and has been all this time.
