The Russian defense industry (MIC – military-industrial complex) does not stop intensifying the production of kamikaze drones “Shahed”, despite Western sanctions.

As reported by NBN with reference to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), the Russian plant located in the Alabuga special economic zone (Tatarstan) rolled out 5,760 Shaheds in January-September 2024, which is 2 times more than was produced last year.
According to the data specified in the “leaked” documents, the above-described enterprise managed to conclude an additional agreement with the Russian Ministry of Defense, within the framework of which it committed to producing another 6,000 kamikaze drones by September 2025, and also opened several additional workshops to accelerate the pace of UAV production.
In addition, in an effort to optimize logistics, the Russian Federation created a railway station with a direct connection between the aggressor country and China, through which components necessary for the production of UAVs—engines—are supplied.
Also, the Russian Federation is actively developing low-tech decoy drones similar to the Shaheds, designed to distract Ukrainian air defense systems: it is planned to manufacture up to 10,000 of these target simulators by the end of 2024.
Analysts at the Institute for the Study of War believe that Putin’s troops, judging by everything, will continue to adapt their strike strategy to inflict maximum damage on Ukraine’s critical infrastructure, as evidenced by the increased production of Shaheds.
Earlier, we wrote that ISW analyzed Putin’s statement about the Trump team’s peace plan proposal.
