Hodges argues that Russia will still face trouble if it continues its war against Ukraine, despite the US aid cutoff. He says Trump's claims that Kyiv “has no cards” are not true, because Russia is now “in deep trouble.”

The retired general believes that the White House's refusal to support Ukraine will inspire its European allies to match American aid. More than 20 countries could pool their industrial capacities, which would dwarf what Russia has.
The former military leader admitted that Ukrainians and Europeans “will be in a bad way for a while.” However, Washington will ultimately regret that it “abandoned” Kyiv, that Europe was able to help Ukraine without the United States, because America will lose a huge amount of influence.
