Displaced persons (IDPs) and citizens who left the country after February 24, 2022/living in temporarily occupied territories (TOT) previously went through a separate algorithm to confirm their right to receive pensions and insurance payments.

As reported by NBN with reference to the official page of the Ministry of Social Policy, the Ukrainian government, seeking to regulate the above-described situation, has introduced a number of changes establishing uniform rules/conditions regarding the accrual of pension benefits to all Ukrainians, regardless of their location (in the country/outside, or under occupation).

In particular, the government's innovations look like the following:

  • benefits can be received on a card/account of any domestic bank (not only Oschadbank and other state financial institutions);
  • citizens who reside abroad/in temporary residence on a temporary basis must undergo a physical identification procedure annually (before December 31);
  • pensioners remaining on the VOT must make at least one financial transaction with their account every 6 months (if during this time the physical identification procedure has not been completed and non-receipt of an identical benefit from the Russian Federation has been confirmed).

Such requirements have been introduced to confirm that a Ukrainian pensioner is alive and that he is the one receiving funds from his card.

Earlier we wrote that the Pension Fund of Ukraine answered how the amount of monthly insurance payments would increase from April.
