The head of the United States, during a press conference in the White House, stated that if the countries of the European Union want a relaxation of his new tariff policy, the EU should buy energy resources from the United States for 350 billion dollars, writes NBN with reference to the publication Politico.
The president rejected a proposal by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen to cut EU tariffs on cars and industrial goods imported from America to zero if the United States did the same in return.
Trump called Brussels' initiative “insufficient” since the US has a significant trade deficit with the EU of $3,590 billion, which Washington intends to reduce.
According to him, the European Union may undertake to purchase energy resources from America for this amount so that it will revise its tariff policy towards the organization’s members.
As reported, Trump explained why the new US tariffs did not affect the Russian Federation.
