The American publication Politico, citing the words of three European Union diplomats, reported that the Hungarian authorities are ready to lift the veto on 50 billion euros for aid Ukraine, NBN reports.

As journalists write, for this Budapest put forward a condition to the EU – the European Council must approve a vote for the allocation of funding to Kiev on an annual basis.

The material notes that such a scenario would allow the head of the Hungarian government, Viktor Orban, to annually block the provision of funds to Ukraine or receive concessions from Brussels for refusing a veto.

The media also reports that some EU diplomats are skeptical about the Budapest proposal, despite the fact that Hungary , which previously categorically opposed the provision of funds to Ukraine, changed its rhetoric. They believe that in this case there will be no predictability for Kyiv in the matter of financing.

Earlier, Russian media said that the Kremlin was threatening to deprive Hungary of 3 billion euros if Orban met with Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky.
