On the air of the national telethon, Hodges, commenting on the Alliance summit in Washington, which will take place this year, said that this event is unlikely to have any significant positive results for Ukraine , NBN reports.

“I’m not optimistic,” the general admitted.

The former commander of US troops in Europe explained that he is not hears statements or conversations that would indicate that the results of the meeting in Washington could be more successful for Kiev than the decisions taken at the organization’s summit in the capital of Lithuania last year.

Hodges noted that the Hungarian prime minister Minister Viktor Orban and Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico are now doing the Kremlin’s work within the EU. He recalled that Budapest blocked Switzerland's entry into the military-political bloc of countries.

Taking into account these factors, the military man believes that Ukraine should not count on progress on the issue of joining NATO. He noted that America must help the country win the war and continue to support its integration into the Alliance.
