As NBN reports with reference to Sky News, according to Stoltenberg, the North Atlantic Alliance does not plan send troops to the territory of Ukraine, since NATO is not a party to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

Verbatim from Stoltenberg’s statement:

North Atlantic Alliance does not intend to send troops to the territory of Ukraine, and NATO is not a party to the conflict, like its allies in the North Atlantic Alliance.

In addition, the NATO Secretary General added that if the participating states decide to separately send troops to Ukraine, this will have an impact on the Alliance as a whole, since its members are bound by a collective defense treaty.

When asked whether French President Emmanuel Macron made a mistake when he spoke of “strategic ambiguity” regarding likely deployment of Western troops, NATO Secretary General stressed that “it is important that we consult and have a common approach to these topics, as they matter to all of us.”

Recall that earlier the French President expressed the opinion that NATO troops need to be sent to Ukraine.
