The head of the Czech Foreign Ministry said that his country has long was considered friendly to the Russian Federation with pro-Russian sentiments due to “sympathy” for Russian literature and films, NBN reports with reference to the RBC-Ukraine publication.

According to the diplomat, the ex-president may have contributed to this Milos Zeman, who is “fascinated by dictators.” The head of the Foreign Ministry assured that the Czechs remember Russian tanks on their streets, so any of them are unlikely to sympathize with the war crimes of the Russian Armed Forces in Ukraine.

Note that until March last year, the Czech Republic was led by Milos Zeman. The former head of state had warm relations with Moscow, and after the invasion of troops of a terrorist state into our country in 2014, he made anti-Ukrainian statements. The politician called the fighting in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions a “civil war”, called for the lifting of anti-Russian sanctions and offered to “pay” Kyiv with oil and gas for the Donbass and Crimea.

Recall that Prague is looking for funds for the Ukrainian Armed Forces to purchase ammunition. The Hungarian Foreign Ministry stated that Budapest will not support this initiative.
