Ukraine is facing a threatening situation related to chlorpyrifos residues in tea imported into the country. According to information from the Main Directorate of the State Food and Consumer Service in the Chernivtsi region, received through the Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF), residues of pesticides, in particular chlorpyrifos, were found in jasmine originating from China. This jasmine was used in various tea blends that were exported from Germany to Ukraine, writes WomanEL.
The manufacturer of the contaminated tea is Kirchner Fischer & Co., Elmshorn, and the recipient to Ukrainian consumers is World of Tea LLC at the address: st. Gaidara, 50, office 7, Kiev.

Scientists and medical experts point to the serious health effects of chlorpyrifos. Prenatal exposure to this substance may result in lower birth weight, decreased IQ, loss of working memory, impaired attention, and delayed motor development. Moreover, chlorpyrifos can cause acute pesticide poisoning, which leads to convulsions, respiratory paralysis, and in some cases, death.
In this regard, the State Food and Consumer Service recommends that Ukrainian consumers refrain from consuming tea that may contain these residues chemical substances. It is also important to follow updates and recommendations to ensure the safety of your health and the health of your loved ones.
