The head of the UAF did not ignore the victorious match of the Ukrainian national team U -19 against North Macedonia.
Legendary football player, former head coach of the Ukrainian national team, and now head of the Ukrainian Football Association (UAF) Andrey Shevchenko commented on the debut of his son Christian for the national youth team (U-19).
On Wednesday, March 20, the Ukrainian national team U-19 defeated her peers from North Macedonia (2:0) in the opening match of the elite round of qualifying for Euro 2024.
In the match with the Macedonians, Christian came on as a substitute in the 79th minute. This was his first game for the national team. Earlier, the 17-year-old striker of the English Watford, who was born in London, received a Ukrainian passport.
After the meeting with the Macedonians, Andriy Shevchenko posted on his Instagram page a joint photo with his son, dressed in the uniform of the Ukrainian national team.
“What a game! Congratulations to our U-19 youth team on their victory over North Macedonia. Two more match separates us from Euro 2024. There was incredible energy both on the field and in the stadium. I thank Dmitry Mikhailenko and his guys.
It is a special joy to congratulate player number 7 on his debut in the youth team,” wrote Shevchenko Sr.

Note that Christian Shevchenko is the second of four sons of Andrei Shevchenko and American model Kristen Pazik. The couple also have Jordan, 20, Alexander, 12, and Ryder-Gabriel, 10.
In addition to North Macedonia, the Ukrainian U-19 team's opponents in the elite round of qualifying for Euro 2024 are Latvia and Switzerland. The next match “blue-yellow” will play on Saturday, March 23, against the Latvians.
To qualify for the continental championship, the Ukrainians must take first place in their group.
Winners of the elite round groups will join the host, Northern Ireland, in the final stage, which will take place on July 15-28, 2024 and will be the UEFA qualifying team for the 2025 World Cup (U-20).
