Vasiliy answered the question when he was going to hang up his gloves.
Former world champion in three weight categories Vasily Lomachenko spoke about the possible end of his boxing career.
According to the 36-year-old Ukrainian, he has no more than a few years left in boxing .
“If you're talking about age in boxing and weight classes, then I agree – I'm already old. But what about the heavyweight division? At 36 years old, many heavyweights can just start. But, of course, my career almost completed. The question is how long it will last – one, two, three years, that’s all. But I still have some power,” Lomachenko said in a commentary to Fox Sports.
When asked about the specific end date of his career, the native of Belgorod-Dnestrovsky did not give an exact answer. Vasily also admitted that at his age it becomes difficult to recover from fights.
“How many years exactly will I continue to fight? I myself don’t know yet. This is a difficult question. At this age, every fight is hard. Not easy and recover after fights,” said Lomachenko.
Lomachenko will hold his next fight on May 12 against 30-year-old Australian George Kambosos. The vacant IBF lightweight title will be at stake.
Recall that Lomachenko last entered the ring on the night of May 21, 2023, when he lost by unanimous decision to American Devin Haney in fight for the title of absolute world lightweight champion.
In total, Vasily has 17 victories (11 by knockout) and 3 defeats in the professional ring.
