Alexander Shovkovsky's team scored six goals against the Sersky club, which recently went to a tournament in Moscow.
On Tuesday, July 23, Kiev Dynamo destroyed Partizan Belgrade (6:2) in the first match of the second round of qualifying for the 2024/25 Champions League season.
After the end of the match, the midfielder shared his emotions from the victory over the vice-champion of Serbia “white-blue” Vladislav Kabaev.
“The emotions subsided immediately after the final whistle. We were preparing for this game, we understood who we were playing against, that this country and this club support the war in Ukraine. I think the fans both at the stadium and in front of the TV screens saw with what emotions we entered the field And even after scoring three or four goals, we didn’t stop, we pressed, we wanted to give at least a little positive emotion to all the fans, all our Defenders.
We had a good training camp, plus a good irritant – the team from Serbia. I will say for myself that I came out onto the field very angry. It didn’t matter who would score, because our task was to win at any cost. If we hadn’t missed it yet, it would have been great, but otherwise there is something to work on.
In general, the game was good for us, even despite this ridiculous penalty earned in our own goal. But we had chances before that, I shot, in particular, we pressed. And at that moment I had no doubt in myself or in the team that we would be able to win back. When we scored the first goal, the opponent swam, and Yarmolenko started the team so that we would continue to put pressure and finish them off. We managed to score before the break.
In the second half, they allowed Partizan to have more possession of the ball, but they still continued to score – hence this result. There is still a return match ahead, and I would like to say even more now, but this will already be after the game in Belgrade,” Kabaev is quoted as saying by the official Dynamo website.
The Kiev midfielder also commented on the victory over Partizan Vladimir Brazhko.
“Of course, there are still emotions, because everyone understood who we were playing against. We needed a victory, we wanted to score as much as possible in order to have an advantage before the return match. I think we played very well, but at the same time we could not have conceded two goals – there penalty, there is chaos in the penalty area… We will work to keep a clean sheet in the second match.
Overall, we were confident. Yes, it was unpleasant to concede a penalty, but I felt that we would press and score. We went from moment to moment, we could have scored more. However, I think we played well, and we will work to not concede.
In fact, there was a very good atmosphere. Thanks to the fans for coming to support us. We also felt the charge from each fan who could not come to the stadium and cheered in front of the TV screen. Of course, the concentration was on the game, but the fans made us run forward, and it was felt.
“I wanted to score as much as possible against this opponent and win for every Ukrainian,” the Dynamo official website quotes Brazhko as saying.
It was previously reported that Dynamo hadcancelled all bilateral events before the match with Partizan due to the participation of the Serbian club in a friendly tournament in Moscow at the beginning of July this year. Also, before the start of the game, the Kiev players did not shake hands with the Belgrade players.
