The head of the German Defense Ministry spoke about Germany's participation in the international peacekeeping mission in Ukraine. Following the demand by newly elected US President Donald Trump for Europe to take on more responsibility for security in the region, Kyiv's allies began discussing such an initiative.
This was reported by the NBN publication with reference to the Reuters agency.
According to the minister, Berlin may help with sending peacekeeping forces to Ukraine in the future. However, the German authorities will take such a step with the consent of not only Kyiv, but also Moscow. The official believes that it is too early to talk about this.
Pistorius noted that Germany will play a certain role in ensuring an agreement between the two sides on a ceasefire. At the same time, the head of the Ministry of Defense cannot yet say what exactly Berlin's participation in this process will be, adding that “there are now many more questions than answers.”
Earlier, representatives of the Italian leadership answered whether Rome would support the West's peacekeeping mission in Ukraine.
