The current champion of Ukraine left Poltava no chance.
Shakhtar won a crushing victory over Vorskla in the match of the first round of the Ukrainian Premier League (UPL) season 2024/25. The match in Poltava ended with a score of 0:5in favor of the Donetsk team.
The Pitmen took the lead already in the 8th minute of the meeting – team captain Nikolai Matvienko sent the ball into the left corner with a smart long-range strike.
Before the break, the reigning champion of Ukraine still hit the opponent's goal once – Alexander Zubkov scored in the 31st minute.
In the second half, Marino Pusic's team did not slow down and brought the score to a rout. In the 67th minute, Georgy Sudakov converted a penalty, and a minute later Matvienko scored a double – the defender scored again with a beautiful shot from outside the penalty area.
Daniil Sikan put the finishing touches to this match in the 88th minute of the match, scoring the fifth goal against the “green-whites”. The Poltava team could not avoid a “dry” defeat.
