Kamila Konotop remained off the podium due to injury.
Ukrainian Kamila Konotop performed in the weightlifting final at the 2024 Olympic Gamesin Paris.
The 23-year-old athlete from Kharkov competed in the 59 kg weight category and ultimately failed to win a medal, finishing seventh with a total of 227 kg in the double-event.
Already in her first attempt in the snatch, Kamila set an Olympic record, lifting 104 kg. Then the Ukrainian tried to lift 106 kg, but grabbed the back of her thigh and was unable to do it. Konotop also did not complete her third attempt at snatching 106 kg due to an injury.
Thus, Konotop finished the snatch competitions in fifth place with a result of 104 kg.
Despite the circumstances, the Ukrainian continued to fight in the clean and jerk. In the first attempt, Kamila successfully took the weight of 123 kg, in the second she tried to conquer 129 kg, but again felt pain in her hip and did not complete it. For the last third attempt, our athlete ordered 132 kg, but health problems took their toll and it was also unsuccessful.
“Gold” was won by Chinese Luo Shifan with a total result of 241 kg, “silver” was won by Maud Charron from Canada – 236 kg, and “bronze” went to Ko Xing Chun from Chinese Taibai – 235 kg.
Note that Konotop is the absolute European champion of 2024 in weightlifting. In February, at the continental championship in Sofia (Bulgaria), the Ukrainian won three gold medals at once: in the snatch, clean and jerk and in the combined event.
Kamila is a three-time absolute European champion in weightlifting (2021, 2023, 2024).

Ukraine at the XXXIII Summer The Olympics are represented by 140 athletes who compete in 23 sports. Ukrainian athletes have already won eight medals at the 2024 Olympic Games: three gold, two silver and three bronze.
As of now, Ukraine occupies 17th position in the medal standings. The games in Paris will last until August 11.
