Marta repeated her personal record at the US Open.
The first racket of Ukraine Marta Kostyuk (No. 19 WTA) reached the third round of the US Open-2024.
In the second round, the 22-year-old Ukrainian defeated British Harriet Dart (No. 78 WTA). The match lasted 1 hour 36 minutes and ended with a score of 7:6, 6:1.
It should be noted that the first set was very tense. Kostyuk won it in a tie-break with a score of 12:10, having saved five set points. Then, in the second set, Marta crushed her opponent, giving up only one game.
Thus, Marta repeated her personal best at the US Open. She reached the third round of this major for the second time in her career. This happened for the first time in 2020.
In the 1/16 finals, Kostyuk will play against the winner of the match between American Emma Navarro (No. 12 WTA) and Dutch Arantxa Rus (No. 93 WTA).
