Alexander Krasyuk shed light on the scandalous incident.
Alexander Krasyuk, promoter of WBA, WBO, WBC and IBO heavyweight champion Alexander Usyk, shared details of the detention of the Ukrainian boxer at the airport in Krakow, Poland.
All The promoter published the chronology of events on his Instagram.
“How the Poles celebrated the anniversary of Usyk's victory over Glowacki. Alexander and his friend (also Alexander) flew on RyanAir flight FR2777 from Krakow to Thessaloniki, having previously traveled more than 11 hours from Kyiv to Krakow by car and were a little tired.
Usik had a priority boarding queue, and his friend had a general queue. While waiting to board, Alexander's friend fell asleep on the seats in the waiting area.
After the boarding was announced, Usik woke his friend up and said that he would wait for him at the exit. After going through the passport and boarding pass check, Usik stayed to wait for his friend. That's how it all started.
The airline employees somehow strangely determined the other Alexander's condition as “deep alcohol intoxication” and did not allow him to board the flight.
Usyk began to clarify the reasons for the refusal to allow him to board with RyanAir employees, but they refused to give an explanation, calling the police. After the officers appeared, the airline employees pointed to the second Alexander and explained their conclusions about the refusal to allow him to board the flight. The police asked him to go with them to establish the fact and complete the paperwork.
Usyk firmly stated that he would not abandon his friend, would not fly away without him, and was not going to leave the landing zone until representatives of Ukrainian diplomacy arrived. To which the police threatened to detain him and handcuff him. Then Usyk held out his hands… And the policeman put handcuffs on his wrist. And only on his wrist, because, as can be seen in the video filmed by one of the passengers, the other Alexander is walking without handcuffs and holding a travel bag in his hand.At the local police building, the second Alexander was asked to take a “dragger”, which showed an alcohol content equivalent to one bottle of beer. After this, an “unpleasant conversation” took place between the police and the airline employees, but it was too late…
Meanwhile, the Consul General of Ukraine was already on site and an explanation had to be given to the Polish law enforcement officers. It is difficult to say whether the lunar eclipse clouded the consciousness of the airline employees and the police, or the desire to get to know the outstanding champion better.
However, it is certain that the Poles celebrated the anniversary of Usyk's victory over Glowacki in Gdansk, Poland, in 2016 in a peculiar way.
So, thank God, the incident is over. We will wait for official apologies and compensation from RyanAir and Polish law enforcement agencies,” Krasyuk wrote.
Recall that late in the evening of September 17, Usyk was detained at the Krakow airport. The corresponding video was posted on social networks by the first deputy chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Youth and Sports, Zhan Beleniuk.
The boxer's wife, Ekaterina, commented on her husband's detentionwith the words “everything is fine, Alexander will explain everything later, nothing criminal.”
Usyk himself has already commented on the detention at the Krakow airport. He called the situation “a misunderstanding that was quickly resolved.” He also recorded a video message, where he said that he was already free. The boxer did not give any details of what happened.
