Yaroslava has been nominated for the prestigious award from World Athletics for the third year in a row.
The world governing body for athletics, World Athletics, has nominated Olympic high jump champion Yaroslava Maguchikh for the title of the best female athlete in the world in 2024.
As reported on the official website of World Athletics, The 23-year-old Ukrainian was among the top five contenders for the prestigious award.
Maguchikh's competitors will be other 2024 Olympic champions: American Valarie Allman (discus throw), American Tara Davis-Woodhall (long jump), Australian Nina Kennedy (pole vault) and Belgian Nafissatou Thiam (heptathlon).
Voting will last until October 20. The top three finalists in the nomination will be determined on November 4.

This season, Maguchikh won gold at the 2024 Olympics in Paris, won gold at the European Championships and silver at the World Indoor Championships, and also became the Diamond League champion, winning all the stages in which she took part.
In early July of this year, Maguchikh broke the world record in the women's high jump. At the Diamond League stage in Paris, the Ukrainian was the first in history to clear a height of 2.10 meters. Yaroslava surpassed the achievement of Bulgarian Stefka Kostadinova, who jumped 2.09 meters at the 1987 World Championships in Rome.
Earlier it was reported that Maguchikh was among the top three finalists in the nomination for the title of best European athlete in 2024.
