Head coach of the Ukrainian national team Serhiy Rebrov made another forced substitution in the national team's application before the decisive matches of the group round of the 2024/25 Nations League against Georgia and Albania.
According to the official website of the UAF, the “blue-yellows” camp has been left by the defender of Kyiv “Dynamo” Oleksandr Tymchyk. The reason for this is not reported.
Instead of him, the coaching staff of the national team decided to call up the absolute debutant of the national team – the defender of Lviv “Rukh” Oleksiy Sych.
Earlier it was reported that midfielder of the Spanish “Girona” Viktor Tsygankov will not help the Ukrainian national team in the decisive matches of the League of Nations due to injury. Instead of him, midfielder of “Dynamo” Vitaliy Buyalsky was called up to the national team, but later he also dropped out of the “blue-yellows” due to injury.
Also, the goalkeeper of Madrid “Real” Andriy Lunin will miss the November training camp of the national team due to family circumstances. He is in the “blue-yellows” application Shakhtar Donetsk goalkeeper Dmytro Riznyk has replaced him.
In addition, the participation of Italian Roma forward Artem Dovbyk in the matches, who was previously bothered by knee pain, remains in question.
Rebrov's team will play the match with Georgia on November 16 in Batumi at the AdjaraBet Arena. After that, the Ukrainians will play against Albania on November 19 in Tirana at the Air Albania stadium.
With two rounds to go, the Ukrainian team is in last place in Group B1 with 4 points and still has a chance to advance in class. The Czech Republic is leading with 7 points. Georgia and Albania are in second and third positions, respectively, with 6 points each.
According to the new format of the Nations League, a participant in the group tournament in Division B, where the Ukrainian national team is competing, if it takes:
- first place – will move up to Division A;
- second place – will play playoff matches for entry into Division A with the team that finishes third in the Division A group;
- third place – will play play-offs for remaining in Division B with the team that finishes second in the Division C group;
- fourth place – will be relegated to Division C.
