The German goalkeeper is injured.
Bayern Munich's main goalkeeper Manuel Neuer will miss the match of the sixth round of the main stage of the Champions League of the 2024/25 season against Donetsk “Shakhtar”.
This was announced on the eve of the meeting by the head coach of the Munich team Vincent Kompany. According to him, the 38-year-old German goalkeeper broke a rib.
“He probably won't play again this year. We expect him to return in January,” insider Fabrizio Romano quotes Kompany as saying.
It should be noted that last week Neuer received the first red card in his career. The star goalkeeper was sent off in the 1/8 final match of the German Cup against Bayer, which ended in a narrow defeat and the Munich club's exit from the tournament.
The Shakhtar vs. Bayern match will take place on Tuesday, December 10, at the Veltins Arena in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. The match, nominally home for the Miners, will begin at 22:00 Kyiv time.
Let's add that Bayern's top scorer Harry Kane will also miss the match with the Ukrainian club due to injury.
