The Catalans overcame Alaves thanks to a goal in injury time.
Girona of Ukrainian midfielder Viktor Tsygankov beat Alaves away in the 19th round of the Spanish La Liga season 2024/25. The match ended with a score of 0:1.
Michel's team scored the only goal in the added time of the second half. In the 90+1st minute, Colombian midfielder John Solis brought victory to the Catalan club.
Tsygankov started this match on the bench and entered the field in the 70th minute, replacing Donny van de Beek. For the 27-year-old Ukrainian national team player, this was his first game since last November, when he was injured.
Review of the Alaves vs. Girona match
Thanks to this victory, Girona (28 points) rose to seventh place in the Primera Division standings. Alaves (17 points) remained in 16th place.
In the next round of La Liga, Tsygankov's team will host Sevilla, while Alaves will meet Betis away. Both matches will take place on January 18.
