Alexander's first fight with Tyson Fury became the “best event of 2024”.
WBA, WBO, WBC and IBO heavyweight champion Alexander Usyk has been named the best boxer of 2024 by the authoritative The Ring magazine.
This was reported on the magazine's page on social networks.
In addition, Alexander's first fight with Tyson Fury, in which the title of absolute world heavyweight champion was at stake, won the “Best Event of 2024” nomination.
And the ninth round of that fight, in which the Ukrainian knocked the Briton down, became “the best round of 2024.”

On the night of May 19, 2024, Usyk won by split decisionFury in a unification fight that took place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Alexander became the first absolute world champion in the heavyweight division in the 21st century.
Before that, the last “absolute” heavyweight champion was Lennox Lewis, who won this status in 1999 when he defeated Evander Holyfield. At that time, the WBA, WBC and IBF titles were at stake. The WBO belt was recognized as equal in 2007, so Usyk became the first “absolute” heavyweight champion in history with four main titles.
After the first fight, Fury activated the rematch option and the boxers met again in the ring on the night of December 22 in Riyadh. This time, the Ukrainianwon by unanimous decision and defended his WBA, WBO, WBC and IBO heavyweight titles.
Unlike the first fight, the Usyk-Fury rematch did not involve the title of absolute world champion, as Alexander had previously renounced the IBF title. Now it is owned by Briton Daniel Dubois, who has already managed to defend it by knocking out his compatriot Anthony Joshua.
After Usyk's victory over Fury in the rematch, Dubois climbed into the ring and challenged the Ukrainian to a fight. Alexander agreed and asked to organize a fight with Daniel, whom he had previously knocked out in August 2023.
According to the manager of the Ukrainian champion Egis Klimas, Usyk will have his next fight approximately at the end of July or in August 2025. For now, Alexander is waiting for the result of the title fight between Dubois and New Zealander Joseph Parker, which will take place on February 22 in Riyadh.
