 Tyson Fury Announces Retirement

The British boxer retired after two consecutive defeats to Oleksandr Usyk.

Former world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury announced his retirement.

The 36-year-old Briton announced his decision to retire on social media.

“Hello everyone. I'll make this short and sweet. I'd like to announce my retirement. It's been explosive. I've loved every minute of it and I'm going to end with these words: 'Dick Turpin wore a mask.' God bless everyone. See you on the other side,” Fury said.

In 2024, the “Gypsy King” lost twice to Oleksandr Usyk. On the night of May 19, the Ukrainian in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) by split decision defeated the Briton in a unification fight for the title of absolute world champion in the heavyweight division.

Then Fury activated the rematch option and the boxers met again in the ring on the night of December 22 in Riyadh. This time, the Ukrainian wonby unanimous decision of the judges and defended the WBA, WBO, WBC and IBO heavyweight titles.

During his career, Fury had 37 fights in the professional ring, in which he won 34 victories (24 by knockout). The “Gypsy King” has two losses (both to Usyk), and the Briton ended another fight in a draw (against Deontay Wilder).

Let's add that this is not the first time Fury has announced his retirement. He previously did this in April 2022 after defeating his compatriot Dillian Whyte, but already in August of the same year he announced that he was returning to boxing for a fight with Briton Dereck Chisora.

It was previously reported that Fury did not admit defeat to Usyk in the rematch, disagreeing with the judges' verdict. The Ukrainian boxer responded categorically to these words of the “Gypsy King”, stating that he had won a well-deserved victory.
