Bournemouth defeated Newcastle United away in the opening match of the 22nd round of the English Premier League (EPL) of the 2024/25 season. The meeting at St James' Park in Newcastle ended with a score of 1:4.
Already in the 6th minute of the match, the visitors opened the scoring thanks to a goal by Justin Kluivert. In the 25th minute, the Magpies equalized – Bruno scored.
However, at the end of the first half, Andoni Iraola's charges took the lead again – Kluivert scored a double in the 44th minute.
Towards the end of the match, Bournemouth finally settled the question of the winner: in the 90+2nd minute, Kluivert scored a hat-trick, and the final score in the 90+6th minute was set by Milos Kerkez, assisted by Kluivert.

Thanks to this victory Bournemouth (37 points) moved up to sixth place in the Premier League. The Cherries are now just one point behind Newcastle, who are in the top four and in the Champions League zone.
In the next round, Zabarny's team will host Nottingham, while Eddie Howe's men will play Southampton away. Both matches will take place on January 25.
