Abdukodir Khusanov became the first Uzbek player in the history of the Premier League.

“Manchester City" announced the transfer of “Lens” defender Abdukodir Khusanov.

As reported on the official website of the English club, the 20-year-old footballer of the Uzbekistan national team signed a contract with the “citizens” until the summer 2029.

Khusanov will play for the “sky-blues” under number 45. Abdukodir became the first Uzbek player in the history of the English Premier League (EPL).

According to media reports, the transfer amount of Khusanov was 40 million euros excluding bonuses.

Khusanov's transfer was the most expensive in the history of Uzbekistan. Abdukodir surpassed Eldor Shomurodov, who moved from Genoa to Roma for 20 million euros.

Khusanov is a product of the Uzbek Bunyodkor. In 2022, he moved to Belarusian Energetik, and then in 2023 he joined French Lens, for which he played 31 matches and scored one assist.

This season, Khusanov played 16 matches for Lens in all competitions, scoring one assist.

The central defender also played 18 matches for the Uzbekistan national team. Together with his country's Olympic team, Abdukodir played at the 2024 Games in Paris.

Manchester City currently sits fifth in the Premier League, with 38 points after 22 matches.

Pep Guardiola's team will play their next match on January 22 in the Champions League away against PSG, after which they will host Chelsea in the Premier League on January 25.
