Alexey Novikov spectacularly won the tournament in Spain.
Titled Ukrainian strongman Alexey Novikov set a new world record .
During the first stage of the World Cup in Barcelona, Spain, the 29-year-old Ukrainian pulled 550 kg in the 18-inch deadlift (pulled from knee level).
Novikov became the winner of the tournament, and another Ukrainian strongman, Valeriy Gazayev, took third place.
Alexey celebrated the setting of a new world record emotionally, immediately raising the Ukrainian flag above his head.
“The record has been set. Thanks to everyone who helped, who supported, thanks to everyone, it was cool, I got a lot of emotions and was glad to share them with all of you. Thanks for the congratulations, it was very nice, thanks to everyone who believed and supported me along the way. What else can I say, congratulations to all of us on this event in sports – a new world record for sports fans.

Let us add that Novikov is the holder of the title “The World's Strongest Man 2020”. Alexey is the second Ukrainian strongman-world champion after Vasyl Virastyuk, who won in 2004.
Since the start of the full-scale Russian invasion, Novikov has been actively volunteering and donating his prize money from competitions to the needs of the Ukrainian army .
Earlier it was reported that the 17-year-old Ukrainian won her debut “gold” in the Grand Prix in fencing.
