Arsenal to begin new contract talks with team's star

  • Arsenal are preparing to enter formal talks with Bukayo Saka over a new contract, as the winger's current deal still has two years to run, according to journalist Sami Mokbel. The Londoners are keen to avoid uncertainty over their star's future and will make extending Saka's contract one of their top priorities.

The 23-year-old England international signed his current deal in 2022 – which is reported to be worth at least £10m a year – but the deal expires in the summer of 2027 and Arsenal have already begun preparations for specific talks, which are expected to intensify in the near future.

  • Saka is not the only key player whose contract expires in 2027. William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes, who are also important figures in Arteta's team, are in the same situation.

Saliba has previously said that talks on a new deal have not yet begun, but said he is very happy and wants to stay. Magalhaes has already held preliminary talks on a contract extension, although he is also being sought by clubs from Saudi Arabia.

Elsewhere, Thomas Partey and Jorginho are under contract until the end of the season and are likely to leave in the summer. Leandro Trossard has already been in talks over a new deal, as his current contract runs until 2026.
